Another beauty product review: Lash Stiletto.

Just like with my shampoo, I've been loyal to one specific mascara for quite some time now but I'm easily enticed by commercials. On a trip to the drug store to pick up unrelated items, I stood in front of the display of mascaras for minutes, picking up and putting down different ones. Ultimately I decided on the mascara with what I thought the better packaging, the best commercial, and its promise to make my lashes longer. I don't put a lot of faith in drug store cosmetics but I'm finding out now that I'm wrong not to. Maybellene's Last Stiletto does exactly as it promises. My lashes are longer with just one coat, but three makes them nearly as long as they are when I wear falsies.
It's mascara love.

My hair's the longest it's been since kindergarden. It's hardly long enough to unfurl down a wall to have a prince come rescue me but soon enough!

Speaking of hair, I've been a loyal user of Nexxus products for quite some time now so I decided it was time to make a switch. After several minutes (closer to five to ten), I made my selection: John Frieda's new Root Awakening for Healthy Hair. I've been hooked since the first use. The smell is amazing, light and invigorating. Its lather is rich and dreamy. But most importantly, my hair is bouncy, shiny and touchably soft. My love for my hair has been renewed.

it's the first time in years for me but that's no reason why I can't get festive.
Today will be spent baking cut out sugar cookies and some sort of cupcake (red velvet with a cream cheese icing probably).

I was eating conversation hearts this afternoon and found one that said "Don't Tell". Don't tell? this is not romantic. Sounds like the conversation heart a rapist would give his victim.

I updated my 2008 mix cd...too bad the cd exchange at work was over a week ago. Away went Cold War Kids (do I really actually like them? I don't think so), I swapped out one Passion Pit song for another, added Chester French, The Bird and The Bee and the Ting Tings. I'm extremely happy with it.

After tomorrow my little man will not be able to make little men. Miles is getting fixed.

I was the laughing stock of a small gathering of homeless at last evening's Gallery Hop. This sounds like it could be a really hilarious story but I promise it's not. I was walking into a bookstore, I tripped over some uneven sidewalk but caught myself and tried to pretend like nothing happened and no one saw it but I was then approached by a snickering homeless woman asking for 35 cents. I stop, hand her a handful of change, she's talking to me about buying chips, looks down, notices that I'm wearing flip flops (yes, I realize there's still snow on the ground but I've been waiting MONTHS for it to break freezing so I could be reunited with my beloved Rainbow flip flops), she calls over several of her friends and they all stand around laughing at the fact that I'm wearing flip flops in February.
The most random things tend to happen to me. Things that don't happen to anyone else. I like it that way.

I just realized something today and that something is not good.
This has not been a good day.
I won't bore you or depress you with the details.
Instead I'll give you one of my favorite cookies recipes!

sparkled ginger cookies
4 Tablespoons coarse sugar (turbinado or demerrera or "sanding" sugar)
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 Tablespoons ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup canola oil
1/4 cup molasses
1/4 cup soy milk
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

sift dry ingredient (except sugar) into a bowl and set aside. in a large bowl combine wet ingredients, including sugar and whisk or beat on medium until blended. stir in the pre-sifted dry ingredients and mix until well combined. the dough will be quite sticky and you may need to dampen your hands to work with it. roll the dough into little balls (about 1 Tablespoon) and flatten out to your liking... the thinner the cookie the crisper it will be - a slightly thicker cookie will yield a crunch on the edges and a slightly chewy interior. press the coarse sugar onto the tops of the cookies and bake about 10 minutes at 350 on a greased cookie sheet.

Yes, these are vegan but they're amazing, promise. If I made them for you and you tasted them, you'd seriously have no idea they were vegan. They're sweet and moist..the perfect fall/winter cookie!

Being stuck at home sick with pneumonia has given me time (too much really) to catch up on my favorite tv shows.
-It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Honestly, I wasn't a huge fan at first. I didn't get it. But my best showed me the episode "Dee and Dennis Go on Welfare" in an attempt to cheer me up. It worked and now I'm hooked.
-Gossip Girl: I think I only watch this show for the fashion and the fact that they have more drama in their life than I ever will. I also kind of have a mini girl crush on Leighton Meester. So adorable.
-Saved By the Bell: I guess it really isn't "catching up" since I've seen every episode at least 5 times and can tell you the entire plot of a particular episode just by the first 2 minutes. But it's on for a total of like 3 or 4 hours throughout the day so how could I not watch it?
I've also gotten to watch Law & Order, The Soup, tons of that addictive crap they show on VH1, hours of Food Network...
So maybe I've been watching too much tv.

I'm usually more excited for Christmas.
I love the lights, wrapping gifts, baking cookies...
but this year I'm just not feeling it. Not yet anyways.
I hope this isn't the beginning of my life as a Scrooge.

I've had my sights set on this Henri Bendel bag for the past three weeks.

By my calculations, I should have it by the end of December.

I also have a new obsession with these boots.

I'm such a proud momma! Now that I've moved back in with my parents I get to spend a lot more time with him. I love it.
